Quick Hiring Opportunity for Military Spouses

A new personnel rule takes effect next month, which will allow some military spouses to be quickly hired for federal jobs without going through the usual competitive process.

“Military spouse employment is a key to the quality of life of our military families,” Kathleen Ott, director of talent acquisition, development and management in the Office of the Deputy Undersecretary of Defense for Civilian Personnel Policy. The availability of jobs for military spouses contributes to the sustainment of the all-volunteer force, Ott said, citing a recent survey in which employed military spouses reported that their work income constitutes about 48 percent of total family income.... New Resources and Support for Military Wives

The ‘Her War’ podcast,  part of The Courage Community, focuses on voices from the homefront, and helps military wives conquer anxiety and depression. ‘Her War’ is hosted by Melissa Seligman, an Army wife, author, and mother of two young children, and co-host Chris Piper, an Army wife, mother, and former FRG leader. Recent topics have included a series on how the five stages of grief are part of a deployment. ‘ Her War’ also has a discussion forum for military wives to share stories and support each other.
