New Resiliency Training for Soldiers
The Army is looking to improve the resiliency of its soldiers through a new program, said Gen. George Casey, Army chief of staff. The new program is to be introduced at two bases in October and phased in gradually throughout the service.... Read more here
Native American Awarded Medal of Honor
A 95-year-old Native American veteran who wore sacred tribal symbols with his uniform during World War II was among 16 people to receive the Presidential Medal of Freedom earlier this week.
Dr. Joseph Medicine Crow, a Crow Indian chief and tribal historian, received the highest civilian award in the United States in a ceremony at the White House. The award recognizes individuals for their contributions to the security of the U.S., world peace, or cultural endeavors.... Read more here
Study Looks at Increase in Soldier Suicide
The National Institute of Mental Health announced recently that a new study is being prepared to look into causes for the increases in suicides among soldiers. The study will collect data from Army active duty, National Guard and Army Reserves personnel over the next five years. However, researchers are expected to quickly identify and report on potential risk factors to help the Army prevent suicide.... Read more here
