First Lady Urges Support for Military Families

First Lady Michelle Obama met with military families at Naval Station Norfolk, Va., at the homecoming celebration for the USNS Comfort and the USS Eisenhower Carrier Group. She thanked them for their service during their recent deployment.
The First Lady called military families “quiet heroes”. She said military families represent the best in our nation, who serve the nation in their own way when their loved ones are deployed.
Mrs. Obama urged local communities to support their military families by helping with carpools, bringing them dinner, helping spouses get a job or keep a job, or providing pro-bono legal or mental-health services.
What kind of support has your community given to families of deployed service members?

FYI- if you are a military family and feel like your community has not supported you, consider telling some leaders about http://www.OperationWeAreHere.com. It’s a Web site devoted to telling communities and churches exactly how they can support military families, founded by a military wife who was basically left to fend for herself during a deployment.
