A Theology of Rest
“By the seventh day God had finished the work he had been doing; so on the seventh day he rested from all his work.” Genesis 2:2
Do you make time in your life for rest?
Overfilled day books and overcommitted schedules often compete with what we know to be true—we need rest!
Even God rested following the creation of the world as recorded in the Book of Genesis, chapter 2.
In these closing days of summer, can you carve out time to allow your body, mind, and spirit to recoup energy through rest?
I think it’s interesting that our word “recreation” implies a re-creation of something … what? Energy. Creativity. Spontaneity. Increased productivity.
Yes, we need rest. We were created for it. If a useful time of rest escapes you now, are you planning for one in the near future?
You can do it … from the quiet moment you may find during the work day to the hour at home in the evening to the highly anticipated weekends to the planned yearly vacation.
Make time for rest!
